Some updates of events for this month:

 

Pete Paterson, American Legion Charter member, former Commander and member of the Executive Board passed away this week. Friends may visit with Pete's family on Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the JS Pelkey Funeral Home 125 Old Post Road Kittery, Maine 03904. 

.

Family flowers only, donations may be made in his memory to the American Legion or to the York Fire Department. Care for the Paterson family has been entrusted to the JS Pelkey Funeral Home.

.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Parish of the Ascension of the Lord in St. Christopher's Church in York with the Rev. Fr John Skeehan as Celebrant. There will be refreshments served at the American Legion on Hannaford Drive York, following the service. The Legion and Woman's Auxiliary is taking donations of food and deserts.

HELP! If anyone is aware of a post member or veteran who passes away, please notify us (Commander or Kandace Minihane) so that we can pay proper tribute by attending the service or by sending a card.

 ..                         

 Fundraising projects on-going are:
Engraved Bricks on the "Bardsley Walk of Honor" located in the commemorative garden by the Gazebo- $100 and $150 for the oversized. The current bricks have been placed in the "Walk"!
Brass Plaques for the Highback Chairs in the lounge (in memory of-or dedicated to) for $100
T-shirts with American Legion Emblem-$10 or $11 for XL and above and Sweat Shirts-$15 or $16 for XL and above.

If you like music and dancing, remember live bands play almost every Saturday night from 7PM-11PM.  Come on down for a good time! Karaoke every other Friday night! New-Open Mike night-every Tuesday night from 6-9pm bring your instrument and join the fun...some great local talent has been visiting the post!

Children's Christmas Party-12/10/11-1-2:30pm Santa & Mrs. Claus will be giving out toys to all "good girls & boys"! 0-12 years of age!   Pizza, juice, cookies and candy canes. Children and grandchildren of Legionnaire, SAL and Auxiliary members are invited to come and have a good time!

Customer appreciation night-Thursday 12/15/11-Pot luck...please bring a dish!
Drink specials from 6-8pm...C'mon down & have some fun!

Farmer's Market Saturday-12/10th & 17/11-Indoors! From 9am-noon...

NEW-YEARS EVE-Satuday 12/31/11-Jen Thayer Band!
Only 100 dinner tickets will be available...$40 per couple $25 per single...first come first served...General admission will be $10-no dinner. Dinner will start @ 6:30-8pm. Jen Thayer Band will play from 8-midnite...come and join the fun! Reservations and tickets will be available starting Friday December 9th.

Members are welcomed to any of the committee meetings and are encouraged to voice opinions that may help further the status of the post. Remember if you are a member this is "your" Post. Check the calendar for other committee meeting dates.
 
 

1. PUB-56 Lounge now serves food (see Pub Menu for hours). Come and enjoy a light snack or  some really tasty food... the kitchen is open 3 days a week...We now have some "terrific" sandwiches and subs that are always available. 

. 

2. The function hall is busy booking events, at least one a day. We already have weddings booked into 2012. The function hall is a great place to hold your meetings, parties, training, or any type of gathering. CALL to make an appointment or just see the facility.

Your Legion has initiated a Fundraising Campaign for the next two years that we hope will bring in up to half a millon dollars. This will help to off set the large mortgage and make for easier going.

Some of the Fundraising items will include Memorial Bricks and Benches, Sponsorship of major rooms, Concerts by some major celebrities, American Legion Cook Book and a Direct Mailing.
